Congratulations to all our A Level students for the best set of results the college has had.
A Level Sociology students did a fantastic job, with 100% achieving the qualification - and over 80% of those with top grades! We wish all our departing A Level students the best for their futures - and look forward to repeating this success with those students now moving into their final year.

Just to clarify, the following grade boundaries were used, based on last year's final exam grade boundaries: 48-55% = E grade 56 - 63% = D grade 64 - 71% = C grade 72 - 79% = B grade 80%+ = A grade As you may have seen in the local press, Northampton College's A Level results have been fantastic this year, moving onwards and upwards significantly from previous years. We're very proud that the Sociology A Level results have contributed to this trend, with 100% achievement and success for our second years - and we wish them all the best in their futures. At AS, there were some surprises, some disappointments and some real success stories, giving us plenty to work on for the year ahead... Congratulations and thank you too all students for the work they have put in this year...
For those that don't know or have forgotten. Exam rooms tbc:

I haven't had a chance to look properly at it yet, but at a glance, it seems to be a qualitative study on social class (in relation to childcare) using semi-structured interviews. I'll go through it properly over the next couple of months and develop some resources and sample answers.
You should be able to find the material here: http://www.ocr.org.uk/Images/251807-unit-g671-stimulus-material-june-2016.pdf In an annual tradition, last year's A Level Sociology students were anonymously surveyed to ask them what advice they would give to future students of Sociology at the college. Here's what they said:
Students were also asked about how they felt overall about the course. 86% of the feedback was positive, which is fantastic to hear. Among the suggestions for how the course could be improved, two key points kept cropping up: Students want more homework and also to go on some kind of trip. We will certainly work on these things! Congratulations to all of our AS and A Level students. This year's AS results are slightly up on last year's overall, with some fantastic individual grades among them..Great A2 results too, including our first ever 100% score on one paper! We're very proud of all the hard work people have put in this year: Looking forward to seeing the AS students back next year - and best wishes to the A2 students now heading off into the real world (or university, for those who want to delay the real world by another few years)...
You may have noticed that half the website has gone missing, well here's why...
I've been aware that some of the content of the website has been plagiarised: Passed on to other websites etc. without giving credit to the source. I'm been happy to share all resources here with anyone who finds it helpful, but a huge amount of hard work went in to generating the resources so I'm less happy for third-parties to pass the stuff off as their own, or to give it to other websites/sharing sites without crediting the origin. Therefore, I've taken some stuff off the website for the summer. It will all return before the new teaching year - updated, amended, revised and mostly replaced with brand new content - but will all be password protected from now on. Apologies to students who were using these resources for their summer homework. If you need copies of anything, email me and I'll send stuff over. Students have suggested an NC Sociology Facebook page, alongside this website and the Twitter feed. It's highly irregular that we would ever listen to student feedback but on this single occasion, we've gone with it and created a Facebook page. The link to it is now on the Home Page of the website and on the external links bar. Use it wisely.
